Insertion: mandible and skin of cheek

Action: tenses neck, depresses mandible

Origin: Incisive fossa of mandible

Insertion: Skin of chin (mentolabial sulcus)

Action: elevates, everts and protrudes lower lip, wrinkles skin of chin

 

  1. Orbicularis Oris

Origin: Mandible and maxilla

Insertion: lips

Action: purses lips

 

  1. Corrugator supercilii

Origin: arch of frontal bone above nasal bone

Insertion: skin of eyebrow

Action: draws eyebrow medially, inferiorly, wrinkles skin of forehead vertically

 

  1. Orbicularis Oculi

Origin: medial margin of orbit

Insertion: skin around eyelids

Action: closes eyelids

Origin: epicranial aponeurosis

Insertion: skin of eyebrow, bridge of nose

Action: raises eyebrows, wrinkles forehead
