Activity 2
Parts of the Cell
Bien Troy B. Torres
You do not consume alcoholic beverages, but your friend does, and he consumes these drinks regularly and in large amounts, If we could examine your liver cells and compare with your friend, would we see a difference in smooth ER and peroxisomes?
The main difference between a person who consumes alcoholic beverages compared to those who do not is the amount of smooth ER and peroxisomes their body releases. As a result of drinking alcoholic beverages, the kidney releases more smooth ER and peroxisomes as it break downs the alcohol intake. Breaking down alcohol is dangerous as it pushes the body to create more substances far dangerous than the alcohol itself. Therefore, it would be best for people to moderately drink alcohol beverages or never drink it at all.
