Metabolism – chemical processes that take place inside the body for example, breaking down consumed food

Responsiveness – an organism’s ability to respond to stimuli such as pulling away hand upon touching hot wax from a candle

Movement – motion of the parts of the body such as walking

Growth – refers to the increase in body size and number of cells, for example, growing taller, resulting in an increase in the number of cells

Differentiation – development of unspecialized cells, becoming cells with specialized functions such as our development from embryo to an organism with specialized cells forming the different systems of the body

Reproduction – refers to either the production of new cells for the growth of an individual or the formation of a new organism. An example of this is cell division or mitosis.
