1. Distinguish between somatic and reproductive cell division and explain the importance of each.
Results or products of somatic cell division increase the number of body cells present in our system. The body cells that are made through division make up the tissues of our body including our internal organs. It is very important for the growth and development of our body. On the other hand, Reproductive cell division is the cycle that functions as the production site of reproductive cells (egg cells and sperm cells). This cell division is what makes the cells that will soon reproduce to form an embryo and later on, become an organism.
2. What is the significance of interphase?
Interphase is a preparatory phase before entering cell division.G1 phase allows cells to grow into size, duplicates organelles, and starts to replicate chromosomes. In the S phase, DNA will now be replicated. Lastly on the G2, the cell will continue growing and the replication of chromosomes is already finished, ready to enter the nucleus. After all the phases, the cell is now ready for cell division.
