  1. Distinguish between somatic and reproductive cell division and explain the importance of each.

  • Mainly, somatic cells can be found everywhere in the body and can be used to make tissues that build up any of our internal organs. Reproductive cells function the same way, but are limited to the reproductive system. These two are important because they are vital to the health of our organs. Additionally, somatic cells have a diploid genome while reproductive cells have a haploid genome.

What is the significance of interphase?

  • Interphase is important because, during cell division, it allows cells to grow, replicate its DNA, and make final preparations for cell division. It a phase dedicated to preparing for the division by acquiring nutrients and proteins that are necessary for a healthy round of cell division
