  1. When we say a gene is expressing itself, what does “gene expression” mean in relation to protein synthesis?

  • Gene expression is when a gene is decoded for its information in order to make RNA molecules that code for protein or other non-coding RNA molecules. The instructions found the genes are transcribed into a messenger RNA molecule as a part of the transcription process. The creation of protein happens when the messenger RNA is translated into a sequence of amino acids.
