When we say a gene is expressing itself, what does "gene expression" mean in relation to protein synthesis?
DNA, particularly genes, is where the instructions for making specific proteins can be found. Gene expression means that the genetic information is transcribed into mRNA during the transcription process and the information will later on be translated into a sequence of amino acids for protein synthesis to occur.
