Gene expression is a cellular process where DNA molecules, or genes, are used to make RNA molecules, which will either do other functions or code for proteins. The latter is the protein synthesis itself. Before the protein synthesis can take place, the process of gene expression must be done to produce the needed materials for the translation of proteins.
