Discuss the basic life processes and your own example for each.
There are six basic life processes that distinguish us from non-living organisms. Metabolism encompasses all bodily chemical processes. Examples include glycolysis (catabolism) and bone development (anabolism). Responsiveness is detecting and reacting to change, including moving away from perceived dangers. Movement is motion of the body, organ, cells, etc., and abduction is an example of this. Growth is development in body size. Getting taller as you age is an example of growth. Differentiation is when unspecialized cells become specialized. For example, a zygote turns into an embryo and becomes a fetus. Reproduction is the creation of new cells. Human reproduction is under this basic life process.
