Compulsory use of seat belts

The compulsory use of seatbelts targets the general population, as almost all age groups (from infants to elderly people) are able to ride vehicles. In August 1999, the RA 8750 Seat Belt Law was made effective. This mandate requires wearing safety seat belts inside the car in any street, road, or highway and applies to drivers and front-seat passengers of private and public vehicles (Sanchez, 2022). Such policy is intended to reinforce seat belt use, increase the safety of drivers and passengers, and prevent vehicular accidents and deaths. Seat belts can save lives through restraint or softening the effects of sudden impact. However, due to the limitations of the seat belt, it may also cause damage through minor injuries, like bruises, as well as more serious damage, such as severe cuts and tearing of internal organs during an accident. Children are most at risk for this type of injury (Anderson, n.d.). In my locality, I see non-compliance of this law in some school bus drivers and truck delivery drivers.
