Cigarette Smoke Free Zone

The target population of this includes the general population, and especially those who are at risk and vulnerable population including the pregnant women, children, individuals with respiratory disorders, elderly. The advantages of implementing the cigarette smoke free zones includes, reducing cases of mortality and morbidity related to tobacco smoking  (especially second hand smoke which are proven to cause various diseases), reduces the prevalence of smoking (which also encourages smoking cessation), reduce number of people who wants to start smoking, and reduces environmental pollutants.

It is very evident in our community through the use of signages and sign posts reminding the people that it is not the place appropriate for smoking, it is implemented based from the following laws currently in place such as the RA 9211 ( Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003), RA 8749 (Clean Air Act), and CSC Memo Circular No 17-2009 (Re: 100% Smoke-Free Environment Policy). However, although there are signs and sometimes there are people who are monitoring and implementing this policy (including guards), there are still people who disregard this. That is why even though it is being implemented I believe, and based from what I can see, it is not being completely followed by people in the community.
