Cigarette-smoke free zones

From the get-go, establishing cigarette-smoke-free zones aims to restrict the use of any tobacco products in public spaces. This is to protect people, especially those non-smokers, from secondhand smoke. Besides this, smoke-free laws and policies encourage and motivate tobacco users to quit. Studies have shown that the implementation of smoke-free laws and policies can increase cessation and reduce smoking prevalence among workers and the general population (CDC, 2021).

In our locality, this policy is strictly being implemented by the local government. Posters and signage have been posted. Since there's a high smoking prevalence in Mindoro, fines and imprisonment have been imposed for those who violate the law. Personally, I believe that this implementation's benefits outweigh the disadvantages one might think of.
