What is your opinion about the practice of family planning? Are you for it or against it?

  • Family planning helps the mother to recover from the process of childbirth and allows a family to achieve their desired number of children without compromising their available resources by spacing pregnancies. The variety of family planning methods available also allows one person to explore their sexual health whilst preventing any unwanted pregnancies or contracting sexually transmitted diseases if used correctly and appropriately. As such, practising any family planning method is something that I advocate for because it promotes health and wellbeing in all aspects of life.

Are you in favour of the Reproductive Health Law and its provisions? Elaborate on your answer.

  • I am in favour of the Reproductive Health Law and its provision because it is a form of support that will help us reduce the maternal mortality ratio indirectly. One of the major causes of maternal mortality and morbidity is the use of illegal abortion which is the result of unwanted pregnancy. With the provision of the Reproductive Health Law, more people are aware of the family planning methods available to them, allowing them to make informed decisions and practise using them in order to help them achieve their desires, either to explore their sexual health without dealing with the consequences or spacing their pregnancies to better sustain their family.
