The first thing that comes to my mind after reading and internalizing the phrase is the importance of good nutrition throughout one's life. It is already being strongly recommended that the mother eats healthy food during pregnancy when the baby is still developing in the mother's womb because this will have an impact on the child's growth. Until a person eventually gets older, good nutrition will keep that person physically, emotionally, and psychologically strong and healthy.
My parents have always instilled in me the significance of eating nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables, as well as drinking milk and taking my vitamins on a regular basis since I was a child. I began eating fruits and veggies at an early age and have never looked back. I recall being the only one in my circle of friends who didn't mind eating fruits and vegetables when I was still in high school. As of my current state, I don't get sick easily, thus I believe having good nutrition is very crucial. Another memory I have from high school is that it was the first time I learned how important the first 1000 days of a child's life are, particularly nutrition because it has a significant impact on the child's health not only during his early years but also throughout his life until he reaches adulthood. This may be explained by comparing it to a domino effect. If a certain aspect of a child's development is not completed totally and effectively, the consequences may impact other aspects of the child's life in the future, making the child more susceptible to diseases as the child grows older, and therefore have a lower chance of survival.
My takeaway from the quote is that, as a student nurse, I should continue to advocate for good nutrition, particularly among children, who are more susceptible to illnesses caused by poor nutrition, such as malnutrition. Furthermore, healthy nutrition is especially important during a child's growth to guarantee that the child develops in the way that is intended. Good nutrition supports growth and healthy development in children because it provides all of the required nutrients for proper brain development, muscle tissue growth, bone formation, good vision, and other functions (Reihman, 2018).
