1. What is your opinion about the practice of family planning? Are you for it or against it?

Family planning has many advantages to help them know the risk of pregnancies and their outcomes. Honestly, I favor practicing family planning, to the point that educating families should be accessible to the public. Family planning can help the women take off the option of aborting the child by delaying unintended or unwanted pregnancies (Grant, 2016). It would also help the woman achieve optimal health before having another pregnancy, by which she is vulnerable to developing complications (Department of Health, n.d.). These positive effects of family planning are helpful not just for the women or the family but also for the developing child. It would help the family prepare for the added responsibilities, whereas time and finance are needed. As mentioned in the Prenatal Care discussion, healthy mothers are a vital characteristic that could give birth to a healthy child.

 2. Are you in favor of the Reproductive Health Law and its provisions? Elaborate your answer.

I am immensely in favor of the Republic Act No. 10354 or the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health which guarantees public access to reproductive healthcare services, specifically to everyone’s reproductive rights. This is an excellent opportunity for the families to practice family planning and enables them to ensure the provision of healthcare access related to contraception such as facilities, contraceptive pills, sex education, counseling, prevention of RTIs, and other reproductive health-related education that would provide the legal methods of family planning. RH Law is a great way to give medically safe services to clients who voluntarily seek reproductive health care. Aside from that, society should be educated about the risks of sexually transmitted infection, abortion, unplanned pregnancy, and other reproductive health problems. With the free access to health education and services, the societies, especially the underprivileged sectors, would be knowledgeable in different family planning methods and/or contraceptives, including oral contraceptives and non-abortifacients birth control. Their chance of getting illnesses and complications would be reduced. Moreover, it would help them be free from discrimination, as we all know that reproductive health topics are not commonly talked about or normalized. For the reason  that Reproductive Health Law will help Filipinos in being knowledgeable about reproductive health, will have access to services, free from discrimination, avoid unplanned pregnancies, pregnancy complications, reduce having sexually transmitted infections, and more importantly, advancement of planning for the future for the sake of their child is giving me the peculiarity to be in favor of this law.
