Hi, Jessica!

We risk stratify our patients to determine the risk of occurrence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). This can be used to determine if we will or will not give prophylaxis to decrease the incidence of the event from occurring. These prophylactic measures may include decreasing doses of opioids, or more commonly giving perioperative dexamethasone and 5HT3 antagonists.
