"There is no health without mental health"
Welcome to Health and Wellness 2: Mental health promotion. In this session, we will discuss Mental Health Promotion and explore the aspects of the Mental Health Intervention Spectrum.
The audio for this video is of poor quality. I suggest that you lower the volume then use your headset.
For our Mental Health Promotion laboratory activity, we will explore Art Therapy. Art Therapy is highly influenced by the disciplines of art and psychology, uses the creative process, pieces of art created in therapy, and third-party artwork to help people in treatment develop self-awareness, explore emotions, address unresolved emotional conflicts, improve social skills, and raise self-esteem. For our laboratory activity, we will explore a form of art therapy activity called “Words to Live by Collage”. In the age of social media, we are vulnerable to a harsh and judgmental environment where we feel that we can’t be ourselves. Where we also have the urge to conform to standards set by the society (e.g., body type, beauty standards, lifestyle, etc.). Therefore, it is important for us to recognize our core values and identify who we are.
