Welcome to Biochemistry!
The faculty of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the UP College of Medicine has prepared a bridging course for its incoming medical students. This course was developed with two groups of students in mind:
- Those who have no previous biochemistry background (no undergraduate biochemistry course)
- Those who have taken biochemistry but would like to review certain biochemical concepts that will help in understanding the OS 201 course.
It is important to note that this bridging course is not meant to duplicate the OS 201 course. Rather, it is supposed to provide basic concepts that will be useful supplements to OS 201. It is assumed that these basic concepts are already known to the incoming medical student. The general learning objective of this course is to explain the basic biochemical concepts related to the topics listed below:
Each topic will have a pre-and post-test which will help guide students. These tests are not graded but should be used by the student to find out what he/she knows or does not know. Once the 12 topics are finished the student will receive a certificate of completion of Biochem+.
We hope you find these videos useful in preparing you for OS 201.
