Section outline

  • Primary Nursing is a nursing care-delivery model that underscores the provision of comprehensive, individualized, and sustained care where a single nurse (usually at the point of initial contact) is identified as the primary caregiver for the patient throughout their hospital stay (admission to discharge). The Primary Nursing model will serve as your guiding principle during your first three (3) weeks of duty. You will take the lead in their care by creating an individualized 24-hour nursing care plan, providing direct nursing care throughout your shifts, ensuring coordination and collaborative care across the healthcare team, and advocating for your patient and their carers.
