The Pediatrics rotation for Learning Unit 6 is a 4-week course which provides students with exposure to in-patient diagnosis and management of pediatric patients. The students spend 2 weeks in Wards 9 and 11, 1 week in the Nursery/Neonatology Service, and 1 week in the Pediatric Emergency Room.  However due to the current restrictions brought about by the pandemic, students will have two 2-week rotations.  The first rotation will be done via online classes.  The last 2 weeks will be done in the hospital (should the situation allow).

This entails participatory care to enhance integration of basic pediatric knowledge and acquisition of fundamental skills related to promotion of health, diagnosis and treatment of commonly encountered pediatric disorders in an inpatient setting with community orientation.

Activities for the rotation include teaching rounds with consultants, fellows and residents; department conferences; small group preceptorials, didactics on selected topics; and opportunities for skills enhancement through direct patient contact during duty hours.
