FCH 260.2 Course Objectives:

               This is a six or five-week, straight or phased, implementation of the UPCM-PGH Internship rotation in a Community-Based Health Program (CBHP) that will provide learning experiences, opportunities and skills to UP-PGH interns to work as a community medical practitioner in effectively delivering comprehensive health care to communities utilizing the primary health care approach.

At the end of the rotation, the intern must be able to:

  1. Identify and analyze factors affecting the health of the community.
  2. Diagnose and manage common illnesses in the community
  3. Plan and/or implement and/or evaluate with the health team and the community various community projects and activities, which might include participatory action researches, in the context of the CBHP’s program and stage.
  4. Collaborate with different sectors in the community in the conduct of the CBHP.
  5. Conduct a comprehensive & contextualized process documentation of the 6-week rotation.
  6. Articulate an increased level of social awareness and openness to serve communities in need of medical care.
