FCH 260.2 Course Objectives:
This is a six or five-week, straight or phased, implementation of the UPCM-PGH Internship rotation in a Community-Based Health Program (CBHP) that will provide learning experiences, opportunities and skills to UP-PGH interns to work as a community medical practitioner in effectively delivering comprehensive health care to communities utilizing the primary health care approach.
At the end of the rotation, the intern must be able to:
- Identify and analyze factors affecting the health of the community.
- Diagnose and manage common illnesses in the community
- Plan and/or implement and/or evaluate with the health team and the community various community projects and activities, which might include participatory action researches, in the context of the CBHP’s program and stage.
- Collaborate with different sectors in the community in the conduct of the CBHP.
- Conduct a comprehensive & contextualized process documentation of the 6-week rotation.
- Articulate an increased level of social awareness and openness to serve communities in need of medical care.
